How Sprout works

Watch. Practice. Quiz.

Step 1

Watch

A bite-size, grounded video on a real caregiving moment. Clear, to the point, and captioned.

● Simulation
Step 2

Practice

On lessons with a simulation, step in and make the real calls yourself, safely.

Food safety · Question 6

A raw, hard carrot is on the tray for a 2-year-old. What's the safe move?

  • Cut it into thin round slices
  • Cook it until soft (mashable) or grate it
  • Serve it whole as a teething stick
  • Cut it into short sticks
Step 3

Quiz

A quick quiz confirms it stuck, and counts toward your Sprout certificate.

Why it works

Watch to learn. Practice to remember.

Clear lessons that teach

Bite-size, expert videos walk you through the right approach: calm, practical, captioned, and easy to follow at your own pace.

Watch and learn
  • Expert video
  • Bite-size
  • Captioned
  • 1-min refreshers

Practice that sticks

Where it helps, step into a 3D simulation and make the real calls yourself, until the lesson becomes second nature to you.

Practice and prove it
  • 3D simulation
  • Make the calls
  • Quick quiz
  • Repeat anytime

The lesson and the practice, that's what makes it Sprout.

Certification

What a Sprout certification is, and isn't.

Complete the lessons for an age group, pass their quizzes and a final exam, and you earn a Sprout certificate.

A Sprout certification is

  • A record of Sprout training completed for an age group
  • Earned by passing every lesson's quiz and a final exam
  • Dated, with the lessons completed and total training time

A Sprout certification isn't

  • A state childcare license
  • An accredited credential, such as the CDA
  • A replacement for CPR and First Aid certification, which needs in-person, hands-on skills testing

Common questions

What is Sprout?
Sprout is simulation-based childcare training for nannies, babysitters, new parents, and childcare centers. Each lesson pairs a bite-size video with a quick quiz, and many add an interactive 3D simulation so you can practice real caregiving moments before they happen.
Who is Sprout childcare training for?
Nannies, babysitters, people new to childcare, new and expecting parents, and childcare center teams. Each group has its own path, with lessons that fit the care they give.
What topics does the childcare training cover?
Everyday child safety and care skills, including safe sleep, hand hygiene, basic first aid, and food safety and choking prevention. New lessons are added regularly.
How long does a lesson take?
Lessons with a 3D simulation take about 20 to 30 minutes. Video lessons take about 10 to 15. You can pause and pick up where you left off.
Do I get a childcare training certificate?
Yes. Complete the lessons for an age group (infant, toddler, or school-age), pass each quiz and a final exam, and you earn a Sprout certificate that lists the lessons you completed and your training time.
